Active Campaigning

When developers filed plans in 2017 to demolish the Haven Hotel and replace it with a ten storey tower block of flats, we quickly mounted a campaign against the plans.

Within weeks we launched a dedicated campaign website: www.protectsandbanks.group, Facebook page and campaign video which had over 100,000 views.

We achieved extensive coverage in national media including the BBC and The Times and in local media. As a result, we garnered almost 3000 formal objections on the Poole Council website - a record for Poole. Objectors included The National Trust, Natural England, RSPB and our local MP.

The developers suspended their application in August 2017 and refiled new plans in June 2018. Our campaign continues with a legal challenge.
