The SCG working party response to BCP seafront strategy for Sandbanks 2021
Dear BCP Seafront Strategy Team,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments on the draft BCP SeafrontStrategy.
Sandbanks Community Group (SCG) has over 600 paid-up members. There is considerable interest in this strategy amongst our members.
We see this as an opportunity that must not be missed to reverse decades of little or no investment in facilities and public realm improvements in Sandbanks.
We believe Sandbanks is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the BCP seafront. The time is right for a serious re-think and major overhaul to address long-standing issues in a way that will benefit local people, visitors and residents alike.
We therefore established a working party of residents from different parts ofSandbanks, each bringing different perspectives and ‘lived experiences’ of the area. Our working group consulted other stakeholders extensively, including local businesses, water sports providers and utilities. We debated the issues and identified not just the issues, but also some positive ideas for improvements.
We have distilled all of that into the attached document with detailed comments on the draft strategy.
We would welcome the opportunity of discussing this further with you and working constructively with you to bring the best ideas and solutions to fruition.
